The Big Announcement: A Name Change!
Last week, I shared on social media that I was going to be making a big announcement! Well, today is the day that I am finally sharing with you what I was hinting at last week!
I'll share a bit of a back story so that this makes more sense.
In the spring of 2016, I had booked a few weddings for the summer. Nothing major, and just a few, and so I wasn't planning on it turning into anything full time. On May 22, I had my first wedding of the season, and the week before the wedding I knew that I needed to figure out a way to share the videos I was creating, other than on my personal Facebook page. After a very brief period of thought, I decided to create a Facebook page for the videos I would be creating throughout the summer.
When I say that this period of thought was brief, I mean brief. Like two hours long.
So after thinking about it for two hours, I made a Facebook page and called it Mollica Film Co.
I modeled the name after a few videographers that I knew of who had taken their last name and added the words "film co." to it, and I called it good. So up went the Facebook page.
I'm telling you this story because I want to emphasize the fact that I really didn't put much time or effort into deciding what I wanted my business to be called. I never thought it would become something full time, so I really didn't think that the name mattered.
For the last four or five months, I have been mulling over the name Mollica Film Co. and after thinking about it, I realized that I wasn't happy with it. I want our business name to be reflective of what we stand for and who we are, and having the "Co." as part of the name bothered me, it just didn't seem as refined as I wanted. There's nothing wrong with this type of name, in fact, I know a lot of very successful videographers with this type of name! I've just come to the conclusion that it doesn't "fit" us anymore. We are starting to go in a direction with more emphasis on telling cinematic, authentic, and romantic stories and I wanted a name and a logo to reflect that.
So without futher adieu, I'd love to share with you that we have decided to change our name to:
I know this is a subtle change, but I really do think it makes a difference for the direction we are heading with the business. Especially when you add the logo that the lovely April Zelenka designed for us, I really think this fits who we are as a business much better.
Cinematic, Authentic, and Romantic Storytellers.
That's who we are.
And that's what I want our name and logo to represent.
Thank you so much for your support thus far, so many of you have been cheering me on from the start! It means so much to me to have that little cheerleading section. Your words of encouragement mean far more than you know! So thank you from the bottom of my heart for you sweet support. I am so excited for what's to come for Mollica Films.
